3 Trending FitHair Summer Hairstyles

Summer is officially here, thus it’s time to switch up the hairstyles. I was asked by Weight Watchers® Ice Cream to create some unique tips celebrating the anticipation of the summer season. I couldn’t finish off this series without pointing out the top three trending FitHair styles I am seeing for this summer. Long Braided Ponytails I have seen a lot of long braided styles for many people who are working out. I love how a neat braid paired with a plunging v-neck mesh insert, and high/low hemline makes this style anything but basic. Cornrows Cornrows are a popular hairstyle for 2016. It’s a perfect style no matter the texture, color, or age. On Instagram, @itselkethestallion shows off how cornrows can be worn and flossed no matter the age. This style is perfect for the gym because it stays in place and easy to moisturize and cleanse the scalp. Buns & Bangs This summer, embrace a beautiful and neat bun. From the office to the gym, a perfect sleek bun is here to stay, but jazz it up a bit by adding bangs or color to the front of your hair. In this hairstyle, I have my hair in a bun but left the front out, so it added some texture, color and layer to a boring bun. Perfect for post workout hairstyles. Inspiration for Summer This summer, I have been rocking a lot of curls and buns. I love this hairstyle for hanging out at summer cookouts or just some great alone time on the patio. This summer make sure your having great fruits and enjoying lean meats, which are not only refreshing to your body but also your hair. Be sure to check out some of my favorite desserts, which help not only cool you off but also aid in hair growth. If DIY desserts isn’t your thing, then you can check out a few pre-made alternatives from check out Weight Watchers at your local Target and Walmart and grab a lower calorie and fat version of your favorite cold dessert. I love this style even more because it’s much easier and healthier on the hair than individual boxed braids or twist. 3 Reasons I Love Huetiful Salon in DFW

“We are client and customer centric. Everything we come up with inspired by the needs of our clients.” -Ken of Huetiful and Huetiful Salon   This past weekend, I was able to attend the gran opening of Hueitful Salon in Dallas Ft. Worth. It was a great night with awesome company and tons of information. I am very excited to see the new textured salon here within the DFW area. If you are considering booking an appointment, here are three reasons why you should head out to Huetiful Salon. Huetiful Salon in Dallas Ft. Worth   Staff: The staff at a salon can hinder or excel a shop’s reputation.  Within the salon are some of the top industry stylist individually but collectively in the salon they work as a single unit. At Hueitful, stylists are not competing against one another but instead a big-fun-loving-educational-curl-team. Everyone is an hair educator and edge slayer. Nina Christmas, Creative Director of Huietiful noted, “Think of the staff as the staff at your dentist office. You take care of your teeth daily with brushes and flossing daily, but the dentist assist with structure, deep cleaning and to address other issues beyond what you may see.” Everyone works together and since Ken, owner Hueitful and Hueitful Salons, picks the best you don’t have to worry about, which stylist is the best colorist or blowouts.  Just book , enjoy and get ready to stunt on the gram.     Salon: From focusing on textured hair to the modern simplicity decor, Hueitful is not the typical salon.  They offer over 50 services from bantu knots, color to nano treatment and deva cuts. “We are client and customer centric. Everything we come up with inspired by the needs of our clients.” says Ken. How client centric is Huetiful Salon? Upon arrival, you will immediately notice a very small lounge/sitting area, which is due to their focus on minimum to no wait time from the moment you walk through their doors. (*Raises hands!) Since there is only one stylist per person,  the process is client attentive. The salon boost clients can book an appointment for a blow out at 7am and be able to make it into the office by 9am.   Steam Treatment – By now you should know the importance I place in water especially within the body. The entire salon understands the same importance with the focus thanks to the Huetiful Steamers. The Huetiful Steamer is specifically designed for the unique needs of curly and wavy hair, restoring moisture 5x better than deep conditioners alone. Ken states “the steamers allow the opening up the cuticles of your hair to allow any conditioner you choose to penetrate better and work more effectively, replenish moisture lost and reducing breakage and split ends caused by dry hair. ” This treatment is heightened thanks in part to their new and expanded product line. I have to admit, I was a huge fan of their shampoo and conditioner, which I was able to try last year at The Natural Cole’s How-To Event in Dallas, Texas. After chatting with, Tasheara Neshell, Senior Stylist at Hueitful Salon in Dallas – Ft. Worth, I am itching to test out the steam and their latest foam mousse, which is formulated to wrap, style and sleek a variety of different hair textures and styles. If you are not in Dallas, you can check out the salons in Chicago and Atlanta. http://www.huetifulsalon.com/about.htm. Don’t forget to check out more salon grand opening pictures above in the gallery.  Huetiful Salon Dallas-Ft. Worth is located 2410 W Abram Street Arlington, TX 76013 866.708.7015

Easy Bantu Knot Out

I love having 4c hair but sometimes hair styles can be a bit tricky. Luckily, I got a chance to try the blueberry line from Curls from attending the Bella Kinks Bloggers Lounge during the Expo and was surprised at how easily I was able to do a quick and easy bantu knot out style on 4c hair.   Easy Bantu Knot Out on 4C Hair   After sectioning full detangled hair, moisturize hair with Curls Blueberry twist-n-shout cream.   Add Curls Blueberry control gel and brush on hair. I am using a denman brush I received from The Natural Cole  How-To Event.  You can see my quick recap and stash of products here.     Two-stand twist hair and add Curls Blueberry control paste on edges when needed.     Twist hair into a bantu-knot.   Secure knots with hair pins and go to sleep.     Take down and fluff hair out.   Since the products are light feel free to use more jelly or paste to assist in styling hair. That’s it. Easy bantu knots on 4c natural hair.

WATER PH AND NATURAL HAIR

Water is vital to our entire world but especially our bodies. Water helps to distribute nutrients and vitamins to cells, helps remove toxins from the body and aids directly in hair growth. Unfortunately, most people do not have the proper amount of water each day or are having a very hard time drinking. If you are having concerns about drinking water or need a reason to kick the soda habit, take a look at my water, ph and natural hair series for an eye opening segment focusing on water, ph and natural hair. WATER, PH AND NATURAL HAIR   This is the first video of the  water, ph and natural hair series. Did you know your body tries to maintain a neutral balance of alkaline and acidity. Foods, water, alcohol and even stress can and does directly affects a person’s overall well being but also the pH levels. In this video I discuss the importance of water, education on ph and how water affects not just natural hair growth but internal organs, skin complexion and much more. Acid, Alkaline, Natural Hair and Your Body Many studies suggest an acidic body is a magnet for sickness, early aging, various diseases and even cancer. Eating more alkaline foods helps shift your internal body’s pH and oxygenates your system. This means your body has more oxygen, which is something we breathe in every second of the day. Acidic items are needed such as our stomach acid in order to break down but to much acidic foods internally can hinder and alter our ph levels. Alkaline foods keep your body healthy and functioning correctly, preventing diseases and help with your overall well being.  In this video, I discuss the differences in acid and alkaline and how it affects the over all well being of a person. Acid (0-6) Neutral (7) Alkaline(8-14)  Please note: I am mostly referring to basically alkaline and acidity  levels with regards to foods and liquids.      The PH Test Now that you know a little bit about acid, alkaline and how water affect your body, it’s time to test the ph of common drinks most people have daily. In this video, I test three different liquids to see their ph. The items tested are Sprite soda, Ozarka bottled water and Alkaline water from Santevia water system. As a DIY naturalist, I think of acids, alkaline and neutral ph’s in this manner Acid (0-6): Apple Cider Vinegar Neutral (7): Distilled Water Alkaline(8-14) : Baking Soda or Lemon If you are not a DIY naturalista or want to see a ph chart here is a quick chart of acid and alkaline chart.
